The New Orleans Saints selected S/CB Corey White out of tiny Samford with the 162nd overall pick (5th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft. White is 6’0″, 206 pounds and he runs a 4.4 40. The Saints must have picked White for his speed as that appears to be his best asset. He was not a dominating player in college. White played in 11 games for Samford last year and he had 58 tackles, 5 passes broken up, 4 interceptions, 3 tackles for a loss and 2 forced fumbles. White played in 44 games in his four years at Samford and he had 146 tackles, 18 passes broken up, 7 interceptions, 7 tackles for a loss and 4 forced fumbles. White is going to have to earn his roster spot on special teams before he gets a whiff of playing D. This was a reach pick for the Saints.

The New Orleans Saints selected WR Nick Toon out of Wisconsin with the 122nd overall pick (4th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Toon is 6’1″, 213 pounds and he runs a 4.5 40. Toon is a good route runner and he has very dependable hands. He is a good and willing blocker in the running game. But, he doesn’t have enough speed to stretch the field. Toon played in 13 games (all starts) for Wisconsin last year and he caught 64 passes for 926 yards (14.5 avg) with 10 TD grabs. He played in 47 games (31 starts) in his four years with the Badgers and he caught 171 passes for 2,447 yards (14.3 avg) with 18 TD grabs. If Toon is anywhere near as good as his dad was (Al Toon), the Saints might just have a steal here.
