The New Orleans Saints sign RB DeShawn Wynn

The Saints have signed 26-year old RB DeShawn Wynn.  Wynn played in 4 games for the Packers last season in which he carried the ball 6 times for 19 yards (3.2 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 19 yards (9.5 avg).  Wynn has now played in 16 games (4 starts) in his three years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 64 times for 332 yards (5.2 ypc) with 5 TD runs.  He has also caught 14 passes for 122 yards (8.7 avg) thus far in his career.  Wynn is a talented back when he’s healthy which hasn’t been too often in his NFL career.  Still taking a chance on a talented back like Wynn is not much of a gamble for the Saints.

The New Orleans Saints sign Ladell Betts

The Saints have signed 30-year old RB Ladell Betts to a 1-year, $805,000 dollar deal.  Betts played in 10 games (2 starts) for the Redskins last season in which he carried the ball 56 times for 210 yards (3.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 17 passes for 179 yards (10.5 avg).  Betts has now played in 103 games (13 starts) in his 8 years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 776 times for 3,176 yards (4.1 ypc) with 13 TD runs.  He has also caught 165 passes for 1,505 yards (9.1 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  This was a great signing for the Saints as Betts gives them a solid #3 back behind Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush.

The New Orleans Saints sign Mark Bradley

The Saints have signed 28-year old WR Mark Bradley.  Bradley played in 13 games (6 starts) for the Chiefs last season and he caught 24 passes for 320 yards (13.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 20 yards (10.0 ypc) last year.  Bradley has now played in 57 games (18 starts) in his NFL career and he has caught 92 passes for 1,283 yards (13.9 avg) with 9 TD grabs.  I like this signing for the Saints as you can never have too many decent WRs.

The New Orleans Saints sign Patrick Ramsey

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big New Orleans Saints News, General by admin on Thursday 29 July 2010 at 7:17 am

The Saints have signed 31-year old QB Patrick Ramsey.  Ramsey did get into any games in the NFL in 2009.  He has played in 38 games (24 starts) in his NFL career and he has completed 511 of 913 passes (56%) for 5,930 yards with 35 TD passes and 30 INTs (74.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 47 times for 89 yards (1.2 ypc) with 2 TD runs in his NFL career.  Ramsey has a 10-14 record as a starting QB in the NFL.  This was a good signing for the Saints as Ramsey should be a big upgrade over Mark Brunell who looked like he was toast last year.

The New Orleans Saints sign G/T Terrence Metcalf

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big New Orleans Saints News, General by admin on Wednesday 9 June 2010 at 12:39 pm

The Saints have signed 32-year old G/T Terrence Metcalf to a 1-year deal.  Metcalf is a huge guy at 6′4″, 310 pounds but he could be a tad rusty as he hasn’t played in a game since 2006 with the Bears.  Metcalf has played in 84 games (25 starts) in his NFL career so he likely would be nothing more than a backup if he makes the Saints’ roster.  Still, it never hurts to bring in experienced players for the offensive line.
