The New Orleans Saints pick DT Al Woods in the 4th round
The Saints have picked DT Al Woods out of LSU with the 123rd overall pick (4th round) of the NFL Draft. Woods certainly looks the part as he is 6’3″, 312 pounds. Woods only has one year of starting experience so he still has a lot to learn about playing DT. He can handle the double team which is probably the most exciting part of his game as he frees the linebackers to flow to the ball. Woods played in 13 games (all starts) for LSU last season and he had 33 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, he had 1 sack and he has batted down two passes. Woods played in 41 games (17 starts) in his four years in college and he finished up with 63 tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, he had 3.5 sacks, batted down 2 passes and he has recovered 3 fumbles. If Woods is a quick learner he could be starting for the Saints some time in his rookie season.
