The Saints wanted undrafted rookie RB Herb Donaldson so bad that they signed him to a 3-year deal.  The 23-year old Donaldson is 5’11″, 205 pounds and he was a very productive player in college albeit at a small school.  Donaldson carried the ball 828 times for 4,730 yards (5.7 ypc) with 50 TD runs in his career at Western Illinois.  He also caught 35 passes for 214 yards (6.1 avg) with 1 TD grab in his college career.  Donaldson could earn his way up to the #3 spot on the depth chart behind Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas with a good showing in training camp and the preseason.
