The Saints destroyed the 49ers’ defense last Sunday as a lot of new faces stepped up in this football game.  Drew Brees was fantastic as usual completing 23 of 35 passes for 363 yards with 3 TD passes and 1 interception.  Deuce McAllister led the Saints in rushing in this game with 73 yards on 20 carries (3.7 ypc) with a TD run.  Reggie Bush pitched in with 10 carries for 31 yards (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 7 yards (1.4 avg).  WR Lance Moore was the star of the show in this game with 7 catches for 101 yards (14.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs (33, 5 yards).  2nd year WR Robert Meachem also had a outstanding game as he caught 2 passes for 99 yards (49.5 avg) with a 47-yard TD reception from Drew Brees.  The Saints finished up with 104 yards rushing on 32 carries (3.3 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 35 passes for 363 yards.

The defense was very effective for the Saints in this game as they picked off two passes (Tracy Porter, Kevin Kaesviharn) and sacked Niners’ QB J.T. O’Sullivan six times.  Safety Roman Harper led the way for the Saints with 8 tackles.  Jonathan Vilma pitched in with 7 tackles and a fumble recovery.  DE Charles Grant was very hard for the Niners to deal with in this game as he finished with 6 tackles and 2 sacks.  The 49ers finished up with 91 yards rushing on 19 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 36 passes for 221 yards.  The Saints improved to 2-2 on the season with this win.
