Sean Payton tried his best for the New Orleans Saints

Coach Sean Payton did the best that he could when you consider the injuries to the running backs of the Saints.  That caused the Saints to be to one dimensional which allowed teams to attack the Saints with nickel and dime defenses often.  The Saints finished at 7-9 in Sean Payton’s second season in charge.  Payton has now been the head coach of the Saints for two seasons now and he has compiled a 17-15 (.531 %) regular season record and he is 1-1 in the post season.

Drew Brees wasn’t quite as good as he was last season for the New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees’ numbers look pretty good but he was very inconsistent this season and it hurt the Saints.  Part of the problem was when Deuce McAllister went down so did the running game and teams starting to gang up on the receivers of the Saints.  Brees started all 16 games last season for the Saints and he completed 440 of 652 passes (67.5%) for 4,423 yards with 28 TD passes and 18 interceptions (89.4 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 23 times for 52 yards (2.3 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Brees has now played in 91 games in his NFL career and he has completed 1,921 of 3,015 passes (63.7%) for 21,189 yards with 134 TD passes and 82 interceptions (87.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 200 times for 450 yards (2.5 ypc) with 5 TD runs.
