New Orleans Saints 22, Atlanta Falcons 16
The Saints played a pretty solid game and it paid off with a victory on Sunday. Drew Brees was efficient as he completed 22 of 34 passes for 219 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception. Reggie Bush also had a solid game with 17 carries for 54 yards (3.2 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 19 yards (3.8 ypc) with 1 TD grab. Undrafted rookie Pierre Thomas had a solid performance with 2 carries for 28 yards (14.0 ypc) with a TD run. TE Eric Johnson (5 rec, 54 yards) and WR Devery Henderson (1 rec, 37-yard TD) led the way in the passing game for the Saints. The Saints finished up with 91 yards rushing on 22 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 34 passes for 219 yards. That’s a lot of yards when you consider that the Saints only had possession of the football for 24:33 of the game.
Scott Shanle (7 tackles) and DE Charles Grant (5 tackles, sack) led the way for the Saints defense. The Falcons finished up with 75 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 27 of 41 passes for 259 yards.
