I’m sure the Saints would rather play this week

The Saints bye week is here and they are an unbelievable 5-1 this season.  The Saints have done it with great offensive play and just enough defense.  The Saints are averaging 24.2 points per game this season.  The Saints are averaging 108.8 yards rushing per game, but only 3.7 yards per carry.  Drew Brees and company are lighting teams up when they throw the ball.  They are averaging 245.3 net yards passing per game and are completing and outstanding 66.3% of their passes!

The Saints defense is starting to show cracks.  The Saints are allowing teams to run for 119.7 yards per game and 4.9 yards per carry, and that needs to improve if they are to continue winning football games.  The Saints allow 189.5 yards passing per game and 57.0% completions.  They really need to work on the defense to keep winning.

It is great to see the saints go into their bye week with a 5-1 record. The rest should help them get a much needed rest and to focus on getting better at the defensive side of the football. Some are at a lost because of the lost of TE Ernie Conwell. He is a lost to the team but that was not the major lost. The major lost was of Harper their defensive rookie stalwart. He was playing tremendous good defense until he was lost for the season. An offensive player can be easily replaced. A defensive starter who was doing very good is truly missed by any team that leaves a question mark in reference to improve play. As I will continue to preach, defense wins superbowls. Do not worry about the saint’s offense, it is the defense as the key component in winning all of your games. Having a great defense will take you all the way to the superbowl. Great defense will stop any offense. How many teams have won the superbowl just with an offense? The answer is zero. How many teams have won the superbowl with defense? All of them. The defense is the most important aspect of any successful franchise in the history of the NFL. The saints are average. Until their defense get extremely better, than they can and should win the superbowl. If their defense do not improve, they will not go anywhere.
