Saints ride wave of emotion to 23-3 win
You could tell it was going to be the Saints night early on. The Saints held the Falcons to a 3 and out on their first possession of the game. Punter Michael Koenen then came out and the Saints blocked his punt and Curtis DeLoatch recovered it in the end zone for a TD. That set the stage for the Saints to build a lead to take the Falcons out of their running game and make Michael Vick try to beat them with his arm. Vick couldn’t do it. The Saints gave up 117 yards rushing to the Falcons on 5.1 yards per carry. The Falcons only completed 12 of 31 passes for 112 net yards passing.
Drew Brees had a good game, he completed 20 of 28 passes for 191 yards. Deuce McAllister had 19 carries for 81 yards and caught 4 passes for 13 yards. Reggie Bush had 13 carries for 53 yards and caught 4 passes for 19 yards. Rookie WR Marques Colston caught 7 passes for 97 yards. Joe Horn pitched in 3 catches for 47 yards. Devery Henderson caught 2 passes for 15 yards and had 1 carry for 11 yards and a TD.
I think the Saints are for real!

you can tell that this is a totally different team the Saints fans are use ta seeing. The old Saints would ‘ve have had us scared in the 4th quarter, but they held strong. This is a team that people are going to be scared of and could go 6-0 in their divison, and when was the last time u watched the Saints and u saw NO FALSE STARTS!!!!! or any type of penalty. Can u answer that?
In forty years I have never been so proud of any Saints team. Carolina on the road will be a stiff test, but if they can pull it off, the division title will be in their grasp (if they could follow up by taking down the Bucaneers rookie quarterback). It’s a long season, but when has it ever started so good?
The Panthers are a different team with Steve Smith on the field. Hopefully the Saints didn’t blow their wad this week like the Giants did in their comeback over Philly. If the Saints can win this game, they will definately be in the drivers seat.
