The Saints acquire linebacker from Cowboys
Scott Shanle was a back-up for the Cowboys, but he’ll be starting for the Saints. He could probably start at any of the linebacker spots, but it looks like he fits in the middle the best. Shanle has good size at 6’2″, 245, and he is a very aggressive football player that is an excellent run defender which is just what the doctor ordered for the Saints defense. Shanle played in 36 games for the Cowboys and made 77 tackles, had 1.5 sacks and defensed 3 passes.
The Saints gave up a conditional 2007 draft pick which is tied to Shanle’s playing time and production. This was a good move for the Saints.
